Blinds are a practical and versatile choice for your windows, but they can also get damaged by heat or sunlight. If your blinds have melted spots or holes, they can look unsightly and let in unwanted light. Fortunately, you can fix melted blinds with some simple tools and materials. Here are some ideas to help you:

Fix Melted Spots With Paint

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to fix melted spots on your blinds is to paint over them. You can use spray paint or fabric paint, depending on the material of your blinds. You can choose a color that matches your blinds, or create a contrast with a different color. Painting over melted spots can cover up the damage and give your blinds a fresh look.

To paint over melted spots on your blinds, you need to:

  • Lower the blinds and close the slats completely. This will make them easier to handle and paint.
  • Remove the blinds from the fixtures at the top of the window and lay them on a large sheet or tarp on the floor. You can also do this outside if you have enough space.
  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth so you don’t breathe in the fumes from the paint.
  • If you have vinyl or metal blinds, choose a spray paint that is multi-surface. If you have fabric blinds, choose a fabric spray paint.
  • Shake the can well and spray the paint evenly over the melted spots. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for drying time and number of coats.
  • Flip over the blinds and repeat the process on the other side.
  • Let the blinds dry completely before reattaching them to the fixtures.

Fix Melted Holes With Tape

Another way to fix melted holes on your blinds is to use tape. You can use adhesive tape, duct tape, or fabric tape, depending on your preference. You can choose a tape that matches your blinds, or create a contrast with a different color. Taping over melted holes can seal the damage and block out the light.

To tape over melted holes on your blinds, you need to:

  • Lower the blinds and close the slats completely. This will make them easier to handle and tape.
  • Remove the blinds from the fixtures at the top of the window and lay them on a large sheet or tarp on the floor. You can also do this outside if you have enough space.
  • Cut a piece of tape that is slightly larger than the hole. You can use scissors or a knife for this purpose.
  • Place the tape over the hole and press it firmly to stick it to the blind. Make sure there are no gaps or wrinkles in the tape.
  • Flip over the blind and repeat the process on the other side.
  • Reattach the blinds to the fixtures and check if they work properly.
